Where It Started At

Konsept began rapping when he was 12 years old in the city of Chicago.  By age 15 he was battling emcees, entering talent contests and learning the finer points of showmanship, if not the sizeable advantage that, well, size offers where confrontation is concerned. The kid had a calling, and he wasn't going to let anything like shitty equipment, stature, homework and slow his roll.

Today, at 17, he's making a reputation for himself. Several, actually. You might know from his singles "live My Life" or "Crooked Stairs To Heaven". Heart-draining confessionalist or just an emcee with a different view on shit. Konsept is many things to many people but if there's anything he isn't, it's quiet.

Record stores were his libraries, and rhyme circles his study groups. Coming up his influences were Eminem, Joe Budden, The Game and other rappers that brought emotional lyrics to the mic. As he came up startin weak people can see his changes as he matured as a person and emcee.

In 2004, Konsept recorded his first official demo tape. As he began to make a name for himself he met Juan aka Silent. They began talking about starting a crew dubbed DST Recordz to represent Chicago. Soon after DST Recordz made their hottest single "Live My Life," they met up with another Chicago talent Lil' Tone. They hit it off and made another hot single called "Killaz In Streets."
